Jaime and Ramiro are two passionate and genuine promoters of authentic mexican cuisine in the United States. Their deep love for that cuisine, their friendship, the family recipes, the remembrances of their youth in their native state of Jalisco, made it possible to fulfill their dream of opening, about eight years ago, “La Casita Mexicana” restaurant in the city of Bell, a suburb of Los Angeles.

Their untiring work to rescue, preserve and promote with authenticity the vast and varied mexican gastronomy, have taken Jaime and Ramiro to be the regular hosts of various segments in local, national and international television programs, namely Univision’s programs “Primera Edicion” and “Despierta America”, the most watched spanish morning show in the United States. They have also been featured in food segments in channels such as KRCA, Channel 62, Telemundo 52, “E” Entertainment Channel and Channel 22 (Conaculta) of Mexico City.

They have been recognized as the best exponents of traditional mexican cuisine in California by numerous food critics from national and international newspapers and magazines such as: Los Angeles Times, LA Times Magazine, LA Weekly, La Opinion, Pasadena Weekly, San Gabriel Tribune, “Hoy”, “Tentaciones”, “Vuelo” inflight magazine for Mexicana, as well “Menu Diario” gourmet magazine and the respected “Reforma”, both from Mexico City.

“La Casita Mexicana” was also selected as one of the best mexican restaurants in Los Angeles by both AOL and Los Angeles Times in 2003 and again in 2004.

In 2002, Jaime and Ramiro were the presenters at a live food expo for “Foster Farms”, where they prepared dishes from exclusive recipes for this popular chicken brand in the Latino community.

Jaime and Ramiro have also received many certificates of recogntition from the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors and from the Los Angeles Board of Education for their civic work and contributions.

It is important to mention that in their zeal to rescue and show case the tradional mexican cuisine in Los Angeles, Jaime and Ramiro attended in 2003 the Fifth Gastronomic Congress in Puebla, under the theme of “Family Recipes”; in 2004 they returned to the Sixth Congress in Puebla, themed “El Mole, Route of the Gods”.
In Decenber of 2005, Jaime and Ramiro were also invited guests at the Second Annual Congress of traditional Women Cooks, in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, which is organized by the government of that state and attracts chefs, restaurant owners and food writers from Mexico and other countries.

During 2005, Jaime and Ramiro also participated in the First Tamale Festival organized by the city of Los Angeles. They were featured exhibitors at the “Latino Food Expo” at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which was called “Authentic Mexican Flavors”, sponsored by Mexico’s Bancomext. They participated at the 38th Informative Journey on Gastronomy and Mexican Culture sponsored by IME, an organ of the Mexican Government.

Also in 2005, October 4-10, Jaime and Ramiro participated as chefs in “Mexican Food Extravaganza” and in the elaboration and creation of the recipes for the food book “Riqueza Mexicana: Recetario de Autentica Comida Mexiana”. Both events were sponsored by Bancomext of Mexico, the General Consulate of Mexico in Los Angeles as well as the Mexican Tourism Board. Currenty, both are members of AREGALA (Asociation of Restauranteurs of Latin America).

Regarding their banquet services, “La Casita Mexicana” has achieved great success for the quality of its food and service. Among their clients are: The General Consulate of Mexico in Los Angeles, The Mexican Tourism Office in Los Angeles, the Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, the Museum of Latin American Art, Gallery Iturralde, the City of Huntington Park, “Nosotros”, the Latino actors association presided by Ricardo Montalban and Univision Television, among others. Among their regular clients, “La Casita Mexicana” counts some of the biggest names in Latino entertainment such as Jose Feliciano and Don Francisco, host of Latin America’s most popular variety show, Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa and various politicians have also enjoyed “La Casita Mexiana”’s delicacies as well as a host of reknowned food writers and critics, syndicated and independent, from the top food publications in the US and Mexico.

Currently, Jaime and Ramiro have a very special and respectable assignment as Latino spokespersons for Conagra, the giant food company that also counts on the services of the famed chef Wolfgang Puck.
